Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Multiple Districts Until June 12

Weather Alert

Tamil Nadu is expected to witness widespread Weather Alert for the coming days due to an atmospheric lower-layer circulation prevailing over South India. According to the latest forecast, several parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Meteorologists have indicated that weather conditions may remain unstable, leading to intermittent rain spells across various regions of the state.

For June 10, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph is expected in the hilly regions of Tirunelveli district, along with Theni and Kanyakumari districts. The weather department has advised residents in these areas to remain cautious, particularly in regions prone to waterlogging, landslides, and localized flooding. On June 11, heavy rain is forecast to continue over the hilly areas of Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts, with strong winds likely to accompany the showers.

The weather system is expected to shift further north on June 12, bringing heavy rainfall to the hilly regions of Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts, as well as Vellore, Tirupathur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Erode, and Salem districts. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and may issue additional advisories if rainfall intensity increases. Residents, farmers, and travelers in these districts are encouraged to stay updated with official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions against adverse weather conditions.

Despite the expected rainfall activity, maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to remain near normal levels between June 10 and June 13, with no major fluctuations anticipated. In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy on June 10, with chances of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some parts of the city during the evening or night. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 38°C to 39°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain close to 30°C, resulting in warm and humid conditions.
