A Crucial Itinerary: Inside Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s Three-Day Delhi Visit

CM Vijay

Tamil Nadu CM Vijay is set to undertake a significant three-day official visit to New Delhi beginning on Wednesday, marking his second major trip to the national capital since assuming office. Departing from Chennai on a special chartered aircraft, the Chief Minister will remain in Delhi until June 12, engaging in a series of high-level meetings and policy discussions. The visit comes at a crucial time as Tamil Nadu seeks stronger coordination with the Union government on development initiatives, federal relations, and governance priorities. Political observers view the trip as an important step in strengthening the state’s representation in national decision-making forums.

A key highlight of the visit is CM Vijay’s participation in the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting scheduled for June 11 and chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting will bring together Chief Ministers from across India to deliberate on cooperative federalism, economic growth, infrastructure development, and state-centric policy challenges. The gathering is expected to provide an opportunity for Tamil Nadu to present its developmental priorities and advocate for greater support from the Centre. The event will also see the presence of several influential leaders, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, underscoring its national significance.

Beyond the NITI Aayog meeting, the Chief Minister’s itinerary reportedly includes interactions with several top constitutional and political leaders. He is expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan, and senior Congress leaders during his stay in the capital. These engagements are particularly noteworthy because they expand upon the discussions held during his previous Delhi visit in May, which primarily focused on meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The broader schedule reflects a strategic effort to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s relationships across multiple political and administrative institutions.

The visit also comes as the Tamil Nadu government continues to focus on key governance initiatives back home, including measures aimed at enhancing public welfare and women’s safety. Recently, the state launched the Singappen Special Force initiative, highlighting its commitment to law enforcement and social security. As CM Vijay concludes his meetings and returns to Chennai on June 12, attention will remain focused on the outcomes of his discussions and their potential impact on Tamil Nadu’s development agenda. The extended Delhi visit signals a proactive approach toward securing the state’s interests while fostering constructive engagement with national leadership.
