National Youth Award - 2025

The National Youth Award is awarded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The motive of this award is to recognise and motivate young individuals (15-29 years) and voluntary youth organisations for their outstanding contributions to the field of National Development and Social Service.

Objectives of the Award

  • The main objective of the award is to motivate young persons to achieve excellence in social and national service.
  • Develop a sense of responsibility in the youth towards society.
  • Recognise the extraordinary individual contributions to nation-building.
  • Recognising voluntary organisations that are working for youth development.

Eligibility Criteria

For Individuals

  • Applicant must be an Indian Citizen
  • The age of the applicant must be 15 – 29 years (on the 1st January of the award year)
  • Must have a track record of outstanding work in social service or national development.
  • Not eligible: Government employees of Central/State Govt, PSU, Colleges, Universities, Schools.
  • This award will be awarded once in a lifetime

For Voluntary Youth Organisations

  • The organisation must be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (or State Act) for a minimum of 3 years.
  • The Non-Profit Organisation must have a clear constitution or Articles of Association.
  • There must be no discrimination based on religion, caste, community, or gender within the organisation.
  • Must have an active youth service contribution for at least 3 years.
  • The Organisation must have a good reputation in the local community.
  • Previously awarded organisations are not eligible.

  • Cash Prize of one lakh rupees

Voluntary Organisations

  • Cash Prize of Three lakh rupees

Selection Process

1. Screening Committee

  • The Joint Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, will head it.
  • The committee will shortlist three times the number of awards.

2. Central Selection Committee

  • The Secretary of Youth Affairs, Government of India, will head it.
  • They will review the recommendations of the Screening Committee and make final selections.
  • They can also consider exceptional cases.

Ceremony

The award will be presented at a special function every year on a date decided by the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
