Minister Jagatheeswari Banner Controversy: Tension prevailed at a government function in Virudhunagar after Minister Jagatheeswari questioned the District Collector over her name not being placed first on the event banner, despite being the district’s protocol minister.
Virudhunagar: An incident in which Minister Jagatheeswari questioned the District Collector over her name not being listed first on the event banner has become a topic of discussion following a government function organized by the Sports Department in Virudhunagar.
A prize distribution ceremony for Silambam athletes was held in Virudhunagar this morning. On the banner displayed on the stage for the event, the name of Industries Minister Keerthana appeared first, while the name of Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Minister Jagatheeswari was listed second.
Upon arriving at the venue to participate in the event, Minister Jagatheeswari noticed the order of names on the banner. She immediately sought a direct explanation from District Collector Sugaputhra, who had overseen the arrangements for the function.
Speaking to the Collector, Minister Jagatheeswari said, “Generally, at any event held in a district, the name of the district’s protocol minister should appear first. I am the protocol minister for this district, so I should have been given the first place. Why was Minister Keerthana’s name placed first?” she questioned.
The incident highlighted the importance of properly following protocol and established conventions regarding the order in which ministers’ names are displayed at official government functions.
As the district’s protocol minister directly raised the issue with the District Collector over another minister’s name being placed first on the banner, the government event witnessed a brief period of tension and discussion.
