Chief Minister Vijay has urged all residents to participate in the population census and provide accurate information, stating that it will serve as the foundation for the state’s future development and welfare planning.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has appealed to the public to actively participate in the population census, describing it as a crucial exercise for the nation’s progress and the state’s future planning.
As a preliminary step in the census process, the online self-registration of household details began on July 17. In a post on his social media account, Chief Minister Vijay stated that the population census is essential for effectively implementing various development and welfare schemes across the state.
He emphasized that the census is not merely about counting people, but that the accurate information provided by every household will form the foundation for all government policies and welfare programs. He also noted that citizens can conveniently complete the Self Enumeration process online and revealed that he had personally registered his own details through the same system. He assured the public that all information collected during the census would be kept strictly confidential.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi Arlekar had also urged the public to participate in the population census. Chief Minister Vijay’s online self-enumeration process was broadcast live across news websites and social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vijay made a surprise inspection of the M.C. Raja Social Justice Students’ Hostel in Saidapet, Chennai, without prior notice. During the visit, he interacted with students staying at the hostel, listened to their grievances, and personally inspected the ongoing construction works on the premises.
The primary objective of the population census is to ensure that every family provides accurate information, enabling the government to formulate effective welfare policies and long-term development plans that benefit future generations.
