[Chennai]: Anti-Corruption Bureau police conducted surprise raids at several taluk offices across Tamil Nadu. The government’s decisive action has created widespread commotion within Revenue Department circles.
The surprise inspections were carried out at taluk offices in several places, including Pudukkottai, Tiruvannamalai, Kodaikanal, Melmalayanur, Udumalai, Namakkal, Tiruvarur, and Karur. Similar raids were also conducted at Thisayanvilai in Tirunelveli district, Gobichettipalayam, Coimbatore North, Vaniyambadi, Tenkasi, Vedaranyam, and Kumarapalayam.
Since the new Tamil Nadu government led by Vijay assumed office, stringent measures have been taken against bribery and corruption. To enable the public to immediately report officials demanding bribes, a dedicated WhatsApp number and email address were recently introduced.
As part of this ongoing initiative, Anti-Corruption Bureau officials have been conducting regular inspections at government offices on Fridays. In particular, raids at Sub-Registrar offices and local body institutions have resulted in the seizure of bribe money, while several officials have been arrested and the related cases are being investigated intensively.
The government’s continuous anti-corruption initiatives and simultaneous surprise operations across multiple locations have reportedly created a sense of fear among officials involved in accepting bribes. These inspections are expected to expand further in the coming phases to ensure transparency in government offices.
