Speaking at an event in Karur, Chief Minister Vijay urged the public to stand firmly against bribery and refuse to pay bribes in government offices.
Karur: In an effort to completely eliminate bribery in Tamil Nadu’s government offices, Chief Minister Vijay has directly urged the public not to pay bribes to government officials.
Addressing a public event held in Karur on Saturday, Chief Minister Vijay expressed his strong stance against corruption. “Do not pay bribes. If anyone asks you for one, tell them, ‘This is Vijay’s government,'” he said, making a direct appeal to the people.
For many years, there has been a widespread perception among the public that files in government offices do not move without paying bribes. As a result, people from all walks of life—from economically weaker sections to affluent citizens—have faced numerous difficulties while dealing with government departments. To change this situation, the TVK-led government has initiated this anti-corruption drive.
The Chief Minister’s statement is seen as an attempt to put an end to long-standing corrupt practices, including making citizens wait unnecessarily to extract bribes, treating those who refuse to pay with disrespect, and bending rules in favor of those who offer money.
According to observers, no previous Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu’s political history has made such a direct and public appeal to citizens to refuse paying bribes in such explicit terms.
The Chief Minister’s remarks have generated optimism and encouragement among people who aspire for a corruption-free administration and have long opposed bribery. For citizens who have suffered due to the deeply entrenched culture of corruption in government offices, his direct appeal has offered renewed hope.
Overall, Chief Minister Vijay’s announcement is being viewed as a significant first step toward building a transparent and corruption-free administration in Tamil Nadu. The event also underscores that alongside the government’s efforts, active public participation is essential to achieving a truly bribe-free governance system.
